  • With over $227,000 in combined NRCHA and NRHA earnings, Smart Luck is one of the rare horses to perform at the elite level in both working cowhorse and reining. A 2006 AQHA sorrel stallion, Smart Luck began his show career by making the NRCHA Open Futurity Finals with Todd Bergen riding. Just a few months later the duo finished 5th in the NRHA Open Futurity Finals out of over 400 entries.

    The following year Smart Luck and Bergen claimed both the 2010 NRCHA Open Derby Championship and the NRCHA Open Hackamore Championship. That winning streak would continue on for the remainder of the stallion’s show career as he proceeded to win a major title every year. In fact, Smart Luck is undefeated as a bridle horse in NRCHA competition, winning the 2012 and 2013 NRCHA Derby Open Bridle Horse Championships, as well as the 2013 NRCHA Stakes Open Bridle Horse Championship. The stallion also continued to compete successfully in NRHA competition, making the finals at the prestigious National Reining Breeders Classic Open Derby Finals.

  • His sire, Very Smart Remedy, is one of the leading NRCHA sires, with offspring earning over $1 million. Very Smart Remedy won over $103,000 in cutting and cowhorse competition, and was the 2005 NRCHA World’s Greatest Horseman Champion as well as a two-time NRCHA Open Derby Champion.
  • Smart Luck’s dam is a leading producer, with offspring earning multiple NRCHA open and non pro titles. She herself has earnings of over $29,000 and was the NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity Non Pro Reserve Championship. Smart Luck’s maternal grand dam, Shirley McClain, has earnings of over $19,000 and has produced earners of over $240,000.

  • You are bidding for one 2015 breeding contract donated to NRCHA by the stallion owner/agent for the 2014 NRCHA Stallion Service Auction.
    The 2015 Stallion Breeding Contract is transferable to the mare owner/bidder who bids the highest amount for the 2015 breeding auctioned online with www.perfecthorseauctions.com.
    The mare owner/bidder will be purchasing the 2015 breeding services of the stallion specified. This contract is not transferable to any other mare owner and is for the 2015 breeding year only. The contract is for the breeding fee only. The mare owner/bidder will be responsible to pay any and all charges/fees related to the execution of this contract, including but not limited to: veterinarian fees, chute fees, shipped semen fees, mare care, and all other expenses, to the stallion owner/agent. The NRCHA is not responsible for any cost, expenses, and/or charges related to the execution of the breeding contract by the breeding facility not contained or recorded in this contract. NRCHA’s involvement in and responsibility for the 2014 NRCHA ONLINE STALLION AUCTION terminates upon transfer of this contract to the mare owner/bidder. Breeding arrangements will be made between the stallion owner/agent and the purchaser. The stallion owner or representative will send breeding contract directly to the winning bidder. The stallion owner or representative will be contacted with the winning bidder’s contact information within 2 business days of payment clearing the NRCHA office.
